Overview

The new "Referral Dashboard" section of your account allows you to drill into the performance of your referral programs and campaigns over time.

By default, the dashboard will display data across all campaigns over the last 30 days.

You can further filter the data with the date, campaign, segments, or program selectors at the top, to update the data within the graphs and charts below.

This is especially helpful for analyzing the effectiveness of a particular engagement tactic. For example, if you post about the referral program on your social channels, you will likely notice a spike in the number of ambassadors enrolled. As you promote the program throughout various channels, you can start to see an increase in activity.

Tip: Once you filter the date-range for the first time, you can also easily adjust the date-range in the URL as well. This comes in handy if you're pulling stats for multiple periods.

Graph Metrics

The interactive graphs at the top of the dashboard provide an overview of your program based on various data points - see the Glossary of Graph Metrics below.

Each graph can display up-to 5 metrics, for a total of 10 between the two.

To see a complete list of available metrics and adjust which metrics appear, select the Customize Stats button in the top right corner.

Once you have 10 metrics selected, the other available metrics will appear greyed out. To select one of those, simply unselect one of the other metrics first.

Glossary of Graph Metrics

Each stat is reflective of the activity that occurred during the selected date-range.

  • Revenue: Calculated by the amount passed through the Revenue parameter/field to Ambassador for approved commissions only.

  • Referrals: The number of unique individuals that complete the event you are tracking, such as a purchase, demo or email entry in a gated welcome message.

  • Ambassadors: Contacts that enrolled during the selected date-range.

  • Clicks: The action of individuals clicking on your ambassadors’ referral links during the selected date-range. Please note, if the same person clicks a link multiple times, each click is counted.

  • Shares: The number of shares through a Refer-a-Friend (RAF) module placed on your website or through the Portal during the selected date-range.

  • Total Approved Commissions: The total number of approved commissions.

  • Approved Commission Amount: The total value of approved monetary commissions.

  • Approved Commission Amount (Points): The total value of approved non-monetary commissions.

  • Total Paid Commissions: The total number of commissions that have been paid.

  • Paid Commissions Amount: The total value of monetary commissions that have been paid.

  • Paid Commissions (Points): The total value of non-monetary commissions that have been paid.

  • Total Payments: The total number of payments that have been made. This count will differ from total paid commissions when multiple commissions to an ambassador are paid all at once.

Interactivity

Each graph is interactive. Click on each metric, and the graph will change to reflect activity for that stat and date-range.

If you hover the mouse over a metric box, you will see the all-time calculation. For example, the revenue in the image below is $95,274 for this date-range, out of $3 million all-time with Ambassador.

As you hover over the graph, you can see the selected metric for specific dates.

The graphs default to a Total for each metric. However, you can select the Comparison option to compare up-to 5 campaigns, segments, or programs with each other.

Top Ambassadors

Identify your top-performing ambassadors based on various metrics. By default, top ambassadors are sorted by referrals generated. Click the column headers to view your top ambassadors by shares, clicks or revenue in ascending or descending order.

Please note, if you've applied a date or campaign filter, the top 25 performing ambassadors are reflective of the selected time frame and/or campaign(s).

Top Sources

Those familiar with the legacy version of the Ambassador Admin app might recognize that the Top Sources table has been redesigned into two tables - Shares by Destination - and Performance by Source.

Shares by Destination

When a user shares from a Refer-a-Friend module on your website or in the Portal, we will capture the channel that they used to share and list it in this table. By default, top sources are sorted first. Click the Shares column header to sort in ascending or descending order.

Please note, if you've applied a date or campaign filter, the top sources are reflective of the selected time frame and/or campaign(s) unless you use the Filters button.

Notes about these share channels:

  • email = Number of people the user sent an email to from the RAF.

  • native = Mobile user shared through a native app on their phone such as Facebook Messenger, SMS/Text, WhatsApp, etc.

  • copy = User clicked to copy their referral link to share it another way

Performance by Source

Whenever possible we capture the source of where someone clicks on a referral link, as well as the number of referrals and revenue by source. By default, the table is sorted by sources with the most clicks. Click the column headers to change the sorting order by Referrals or Revenue in ascending or descending order.

Please note:

  • If the same person clicks a link multiple times, each click is counted.

  • To capture Referrals and Revenue, you must utilize the Ambassador Snippet to create the referral connection and/or commission, and pass the revenue with each applicable commission event.

Activity Feed

This section provides a high-level feed of recent activities related to your ambassadors. This includes enrollments, shares, clicks, referrals, commissions, payouts and more.

Click the arrow at the top-right to filter for specific activity.
