Can I update details of a commission?
If the commission(s) is in a Pending status, a user with an Admin role can update the following details in the Admin app, either individually or in bulk with a CSV import.

transaction id
status
custom event data fields (event data 1, event data 2, event data 3)
Can I update other details of a commission, such as the referrer?
Other details of a commission can only be updated on our backend at this time. Please email your CSM or support@getambassador.com to request assistance.
Can I update Unpaid commissions?
Yes, however details of a commission can only be updated if it is in Pending status. Therefore, a user with an Admin role will need to move an Unpaid commission back to Pending and update the details, following these steps.
From the new Admin, click Referral > Commissions > Unpaid tab.
Find and select the commission(s) that you need to update.
Click the Unapprove button and select Yes to unapprove the commission(s).
Click on the Pending tab and refresh the page to find those commissions there.
Follow the steps below to edit the details of an individual commission or in bulk with a CSV.
Can I reverse the status of a Denied commission?
Yes, users with an Admin role can update the status of a Denied commission back to Pending in the new Admin following these steps.
From the new Admin, click Referral > Commissions > History tab.
Find and select the Denied commission(s) that you need to update.
Click Update Status button and select Move to Pending Status.
Click on the Pending tab and refresh the page to find those commissions there.
Can I update details of Denied commissions?
Yes, however details of a commission can only be updated if it is in Pending status. Therefore, a user with an Admin role will need to update the status of a Denied commission back to Pending, then update the details.
First, follow the steps above to update the status of a Denied commission back to Pending.
Then, follow the steps below to update the details of an individual commission or in bulk with a CSV.
Tip: If you need to deny those commissions again:
Make sure to temporarily disable any emails you might not want to trigger by updating the status.
When editing the commissions, populate one of the event_data fields with an identifier that you can use to easily filter to find them to update the status back to denied.
Can I update Paid commissions?
Yes - IF the payout method for the commission is listed as Manual, a user with an Admin role can follow these steps to put the commission back to Unpaid.
No - IF the commission has an a different payout method than Manual. You must email your CSM or support@getambassador.com to request assistance.
From the new Admin, click Referral > Commissions > History tab.
Find and select the commission(s) that you need to update.
Make sure that each of them have a payout method as Manual. If any have an alternate payout method, the operation will return an error.
Click the Unpay # Commission button and select Unpay commission(s).
Click on the Unpaid tab and refresh the page to find those commissions there.
If you need to edit the details of the commission, follow the steps below for an individual commission or in bulk with a CSV.
Can I delete a commission?
For now, you will need to reach out to your CSM or support@getambassador.com to update Paid commissions for you on our backend. We will be making this functionality available for self-service soon.
Steps to update an individual pending commission
You must be a user with an Admin role to update commissions.
Step 1: From the new Admin, click Referral > Commissions > Pending tab.
Step 2: Find and select the commission(s) that you need to update.
Step 3: Click the View/Edit button or click on the ID for the commission.
Step 4: A modal will open with the commission details. Each field with a pencil icon can be edited.
Once you're finished, click Save.
Steps to update pending commissions in bulk with a CSV
Step 1: Create a CSV file with the following column names
NOTE: the transaction_id and commission_id are required. All other columns are optional based on the data you want to update.
transaction_id or commission_id (required)
You can either use the matching transaction_id or commission_id to identify each commission that should be updated.
transaction_id = is an id given with the commission from your system.
commission_id = is an id given by the Ambassador system when the commission was created. To get the commission_id(s), export your pending commissions from Ambassador and look for the first column named "ID".
commission_amount = input the new commission amount (without a currency symbol)
revenue_amount = input the new revenue amount (without a currency symbol)
is_approved = input the new commission status using one of the following values
Pending = input a 0
Approved = input a 1
Denied = input a 2
event_data1 = input the data you want to update this custom field with
event_data2 = input the data you want to update this custom field with
event_data3 = input the data you want to update this custom field with
Step 2: Login to Ambassador and navigate to your Commissions table.
Step 3: Next, click the “Import Commissions” button in the top right corner.
Step 4: A pop-up will appear that includes a sample file that you can download and use as a template for importing your commissions. You can either upload or drag and drop your file into the pop-up.
Before clicking through to the next step, you'll need to select an email address from the drop-down menu for upload results to be sent to.
When complete, click "Next" to move to the "Mapping" step.
Step 4: In the Mapping step, you will have a chance to verify that the fields you have imported are correctly mapped to the correct data. Please note, there is a box at the top that you'll want to check to ignore the first row of column names.
When complete, click "Next" to move to the "Notify" step.
Step 5: In the Notify step, you'll have a chance to determine which notifications (if any) go to the ambassador and refereed customer.
When complete, click "Next" to move to the "Review" step.
Step 6: After you’ve verified that all information looks correct, click “Finish Upload.” That’s it! We’ll send an email to let you know when your upload is complete or if there are any errors. That said, we recommend cross-checking a few to make sure they have the expected result.
