How do I enroll a contact into the Advocacy program?
By default, if a contact with an enrolled status triggers an Advocacy rule, the Ambassador system will automatically tag their contact record as a advocate participant.
Once a contact has the advocate participant flag, they will be included in the Engagement and Engagement Rate metrics of your Customer Advocacy Dashboard. Learn more here.
If you'd like to automatically tag every new contact who enrolls in your referral and/or advocacy program as a advocate participant, there are several ways you can accomplish this.
Automated options are:
-
Advocacy Rule
-
API
-
Portal Registration Form
-
Refer-a-Friend (RAF) module on your website
Via Customer Advocacy Rule
You can setup an Advocacy rule to trigger when a contact has enrolled and joined a referral campaign segment.
Via API Call
You can setup an API call to the Loyalty endpoint to trigger a rule, which will automatically enroll a contact into the Advocacy program.
How to enroll an Advocacy contact via Portal Registration Form
If you are using the Portal Registration Form hosted by Ambassador to enroll contacts into your referral and loyalty program, there is a simple check box in your Form settings.
In Ambassador Admin 2 > go to Portal > Registration > then scroll down to the Settings section and check the box labeled "Add the "Advocate Participant" flag to new contacts created from this form"
Once selected, any contact who enrolls through that form will be automatically tagged as an Advocate participant.
How to enroll an Advocacy contact via Refer-a-Friend (RAF) Module
If you are enrolling customers into your referral and advocacy program using an Ambassador RAF module on your website or behind a login, there is a simple toggle in your RAF settings.
In Ambassador Admin 2 > go to Editor > select the RAF to open it > on the Settings tab, look for "Advocate Participant?" and toggle it on. Make sure to save!
If you have multiple RAF's, make sure to enable it on each of them.
Once toggled on, any contact who enrolls through the RAF will be automatically tagged as a Advocacy participant.
How to update an existing contact record with the Advocate participant flag
If you have an existing contact that doesn't have the advocate participant flag, you can update their contact profile to tag them as an advocacy participant.
In Ambassador Admin 2 > go to Contacts > search for the particular contact and click their email to open their contact profile > scroll down to the Contact Info section and look for the "Advocate Participant" field > update it to Yes > Save.
